David Bremer and Girilal Baars started scheming their duo a long time ago. But they were finally confronted with reality when commissioned to perform at Twisted Shout, the text-sound festival at Fylkingen in 2022. Joyce’s amazing linguistic whooplas were always part of the plan and judicious text-editing, experimenting and rehearsing later, you can now enjoy Finnegan is Awake and Well over and over in a sound system of your choice. David Bremer claims that he plays rock 'n' roll. When someone points out that he works in an art music tradition, he replies, “Okay, fine—neoclassicist deconstruction rock 'n' roll, then,” and then continues with a half-coherent tirade about Gustav Metzger and post.
He does at least use turntables to perform his fragmented sound collages. And those who have seen him usually testify that he delivers far more "roll" than most rock bands do these days. Nature Always Wins released 11 November 2024 performed by David Bremer and Girilal Baars
